Elizabeth Hatch

Elizabeth Hatch is the owner and head trainer for the True North Training Group. She was fortunate to begin her career as a dog trainer in the late 1980s working with Steven Lindsay (trainer and author, Animal Behavior Consultants, Philadelphia, PA). She has attended many workshops and seminars in pursuit of continuing education, most notably the Bailey Behavior Models Workshops in Arkansas. She worked as a Teaching Assistant in those workshops in Summer of 2003 and 2004. It was her association through these workshops with Bob and Marian Bailey through these workshops that piqued her interest in the Larro Feeds/ABE relationship from the 1940s and 50s.

Since she became aware of operant-based training methods in the mid 1990s, Beth has avidly pursued knowledge and skills in teaching people how to train their own animals using positive reinforcement. Her St. Paul business, Good Dog! Training Services, was ranked among the top dog training programs in the Twin Cities by the readers of Twin Cities Dog Magazine in 2003. She is currently the head trainer for the 3M Dog Training Club (Shoreview, MN) and also works as a field trainer for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota. When not teaching her students about dog training, Beth enjoys training her own critters, including chickens, horses, dogs, a cat and several other animals. In particular, she has lately been working on teaching her horse to do scent work.
